Anna Mkhoyan received her PhD from the Graduate Institute, Geneva. Her area of study is the former Soviet space and her current research focuses on ‘Russia’s past and present cultural influence on the former Soviet states: the case of Russian ballet’. Previously, she was a Maître assistante at the Global Studies Institute, University of Geneva, where she taught international history and politics at the Master's degree level. Her research experiences abroad include her stay at the University of California, Berkeley as a Visiting Scholar under the aegis of a project funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation. She was a recipient of the Graduate Institute's Alumni Association Prize, awarded for her PhD thesis in 2015 (laureate ex-aequo). She also has experience within the United Nations system, where her latest assignment was at the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights.
