Biography :
Dr. Ramaz Shemgelia graduated from Tbilisi State Medical Institute in 1975.
He is Doctor of Sciences, Professor, Head of Department, Head of Chair for History of Medicine and Bioethics at Tbilisi State Medical University.
He carried out research works at Wellcome Institute for History of Medicine. London College University. UK. Dr. Shengelia was Deputy Director of Experimental and Clinical Medicine Research Institute of TSMU, Counsellor of International Society for History of Medicine, Dean of Medical Faculty of TSMU and Chief Editor of Georgian Medical Encyclopaedia. He also was Member of Editorial Boards of four journals including "Asclepios" Magazine (Bulgaria) " and Head of Publishing House of TSMU.
At present he is Vice-president of Georgian Society for History of Science, Vice-president of the International Society for History of Medicine. He is also Expert of UNESCO in Bioethics as well as Expert of IBF International Consulting and Representative of “Quanta – Medical Group” (France)
