Climate change has significant negative impacts on the environment and on the tourism sector, such as the intensity of extreme weather events, loss of biodiversity, and damage to natural attractions, among others. There is a growing need for the tourism industry to adopt more sustainable and responsible practices to reduce its environmental footprint and contribute to global efforts to mitigate climate change. This can be achieved through the implementation of sustainable tourism management practices, climate change adaptation activities, the development of regulations and incentives to promote sustainable tourism, and increased collaboration and communication between stakeholders. The focus of the plenary session is to open discussions about responsible tourism practices and address the key challenges faced by the industry and locally affected communities. We invite international and local experts, scientists, governmental representatives, and practitioners from the Caucasus, Carpathian, and Alpine regions to embark on a debate about the important themes discussed in this session |
