The International Mountain Conference (IMC2022)
The International Mountain Conference (IMC2022) took place from September 11 – 15 2022 in Innsbruck, Austria. Hosted in the Alps, IMC2022 provided an excellent opportunity for experts from different disciplines to discuss mountain-related issues in a cross-disciplinary setting. The key goals of the conference were to synthesize and enhance our understanding of mountain systems, in particular their response and resilience to global change.
Scientific collaboration on European mountain regions has led to the formation of networks, such as Scientific Network for The Caucasus Mountain Region(SNC-mt). These networks play an important role in research that should also provide input for evidence-based policy formulation, decision making and measuring the impacts of policy implementation; but these networks also face many challenges.
SNC-mt co-organised 2 plenary sessions at IMC2022, together with colleagues from other mountain regions and regional scientific networks, in order to discuss challenges and experiences of inter- and transregional learning, exchange, as well as integrating transdisciplinary approaches into research.
