Biography :

Name:

Dr Maria Shahgedanova

Job Title:

Associate Professor

Responsibilities:

  • Undergraduate Teaching: Climate Change; Dissertation
  • Masters Teaching: Urban Environments. Climate Change.

Areas of Interest:

  • Climatic variability in the extratropical Eurasia
  • Regional climate modelling
  • Impacts of climate change on glaciated environments and water resources
  • Urban climate

Maria's research interests are in regional climate modelling and statistical analysis of climate variations during the historical period. She is interested in impacts of climate change on natural environments especially in high-altitude and high-latitude locations. Her current research focuses on climate-glacier interactions and she runs a number of EU-funded projects investigating climate and glacier change in the mountains of Eurasia.
