Biography :

Dr. Tatia Chikhladze is an Associate Professor at British University of Georgia. From 2015 to 2018, she worked as a researcher at the Research Centre for East European Studies at the University of Bremen. She has extensive experience working on various analytical positions at different public institutions in Georgia.

Dr. Chikhladze completed her Ph.D. at the University of Bremen in Germany. Her doctoral dissertation focuses on strategies of post-Soviet authoritarian regimes for power preservation in times of political crises. As a Ph.D. candidate, Tatia Chikhladze was a member of an extensive network of scholars and collaborated actively with other researchers working in the post-Soviet space. She received her first MA degree in Social Sciences at Tbilisi State University and second MA degree in Russian and East European Studies at the University of Oxford. Her research interests include comparative politics, authoritarian resilience, political regimes and transition of post-Soviet states.

Assoc. Prof. Chikhladze has presented papers on politics in post-Soviet stable authoritarian regimes at numerous international conferences in Germany, United Kingdom, USA, Belgium, Finland, Estonia and Portugal. She has published her work at Caucasus Analytical Digest, Zentralasien-Analysen and Caucasus Survey.

Assoc. Prof. Chikhladze teaches the following subjects at British University of Georgia: Politics of Caucasus and Central Asia; Russia’s Foreign Policy; Democracy and Party Politics; Comparative Politics.
